The 6th Chevrolet Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild AwardsTM powered by Micromax Mobile announced the esteemed list of nominations today. The most-awaited awards will be held in the second week of January 2011.
Apsara will bring together the top talent from the world of films and television onto a single platform recognising their combined effort and significant impact on the entertainment industry for the year 2010.
ÂOnce Upon A Time in Mumbaai leads the nominations tally with as many as 17 nominations across the popular and technical film categories. While ÂMy Name is Khan garner 14 nominations and the political thriller, ÂRajneeti come in with 12. Small-budget movies like ÂPeepli [Live]Â, ÂWell Done Abba and ÂLove Sex Aur Dhoka have also done well for themselves and are competing at the awards in various categories. For the most-anticipated top three award categories films like ÂRaajneetiÂ, ÂOnce Upon A Time In MumbaaiÂ, ÂBand Baaja BaraatÂ, ÂDabanggÂ, ÂIshqiyaÂ, ÂMy Name Is Khan and ÂGolmaal 3 are competing.
Sunidhi Chauhan has been nominated for her chartbusters like ÂSheila Ki Jawaani and ÂAinvayi Ainvayi and so has the item number singer Mamta Sharma of ÂMunni Badnaam Hui for Best Singer (Female) category.
Anushka Sharma (Band Baaja Baarat), Kajol (My Name is Khan), Kareena Kapoor (Golmaal 3), Vidya Balan (Ishqiya) and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Guzaarish) are all vying for an Apsara in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category.
Those nominated for an Apsara in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category are Ajay Devgn (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai), Shah Rukh Khan (My name is Khan), Hrithik Roshan (Guzaarish), Ranbir Kapoor (Rajneeti) and Salman Khan (Dabangg).
Also up for an Apsara in the Best Director category are directors Prakash Jha (Rajneeti), Milan Luthria (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai), Karan Johar (My Name is Khan), Dibakar Banerjee (Love Sex Aur Dhoka) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Guzaarish).
Ramesh Sippy, President  Film & Television Producers Guild of India said, "The Indian Film industry has had a thrilling past year with the likes of both, small and big budget films reigning equally at the box office. It is very thrilling to watch varied movies like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Dabaang, Peepli Live, My Name is Khan, Love Sex Aur Dhoka, Golmaal 3, Ishqiya, Guzaarish and Tere Bin Laden. All these films have done very well and I anticipate that the producers would have a tough time deciding a winner. Bollywood's golden era has arrived.Â
Established by the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, the awards were initiated in 2004 to honour exceptional talent and breed new potential within the film and television fraternity.
The Chevrolet Apsara Awards will have stellar performances by leading film stars.
