The new week has begun with some fresh, exciting releases on various OTT platforms, and here we have a comprehensive look into the new arrivals on OTT, the subject they deal with, the cast and crew and various aspects.
Dark Skies (Netflix):
The 2013 Sci-fi/ Horror flick directed by Scott Stewart revolves around Lacy (Keri Russell) and Daniel Barrett (Josh Hamilton), a couple who have a peaceful life with their sons, Jesse (Dakota Goyo) and Sam (Kadan Rockett). After some unexpected moments and disturbing events their lives are affected and problems increase. Only then do they realise that they're being cornered by a terrifying, deadly alien. Now it's upto Daniel and Lacy to gain courage and determination to fight the evils and protect their family.
The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (Netflix):
Released in 2017, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel is a Nigerian comedy film directed by Ishaya Bako and was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. The fun filled entertainer stars Zainab Balogun and Kenneth Okolie. It revolves around a chef who returns from London to her family's hotel in Nigeria with plans to develop the menu and restore the hotel. However problems arise when her parents plan to sell the hotel to the man of her desires.
Walter (Sunnxt):
Directed by debutant Anbu, this crime thriller released this year before the pandemic, had its theatrical run cut short due to the lockdown and has now premiered on Sunnxt. Walter revolves around a honest cop played by Sibiraj and situations that lead him to an organ trafficking racket and how he destroys the plans of the evil gangs forms the screenplay. Walter also stars Shirin Kanchwala, Samuthirakani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Sanam Shetty, Riythvika and many others.
Kappela (Netflix):
Directed by Muhammad Mustafa, this entertaining Malayalam entertainer which released earlier in 2020 before the lockdown is now out on Netflix. Starring Anna Ben of Kumbalangi Nights and Helen fame, Roshan Mathew and Sreenath Bhasi, Kappela begins as a tale of romance that unexpectedly blossoms via a wrong call between a naive girl Jessie and an auto driver Vishnu played by Anna and Roshan and the sudden entry of Sreenath Bhasi that totally turns their life as well as the genre of the movie to a thrilling finale.
