On Friday, there were several releases in multiple OTT platforms, across languages and genres, ranging from the premiere of a much anticipated Bollywood movie skipping a theatrical release, to a fantasy entertainer from Hollywood, coming from one of the most celebrated banners - Walt Disney.

Gulabo Sitabo (Amazon prime):

Coming from director Shoojit Sircar of Madras cafe, Vicky Donor, Piku fame, this movie starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana is the first Bollywood mainstream movie to have a direct OTT premiere. The movie is a leisurely paced comedy involving an old greedy, stingy mansion owner and his tenant, and their cat and mouse fights before an unexpected new trouble arrives before them.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold (Amazon prime):

Directed by James Bobin, this 2019 movie is the live action version of the popular cartoon series which was a hit on Nickelodeon. Starring Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, and Danny Trejo as the voice of Boots, Dora and the lost city of Gold revolves around Dora, an explorer who along with her friends embarks on an adventure to save her parents and unearth the mystery behind a city of gold.

The Casino - My Game, my rules (Zee 5):

After several regional series like Loser, now ZEE5 comes with an original web series, ‘The Casino – My Games. My Rules’, revolving around a rich, simple and loving guy Vicky, the heir to his father’s multi-billion casino. The series stars Karanvir Bohra, Mandana Karimi, Sudhanshu Pandey, Aindrita Ray, Mantra, Rajesh Khattar, Pooja Banerjee, Rajesh Khera, Aarti Khetarpal. The 10-episode series is directed by Hardik Gajjar and written by Deepak Pachory.

Adhyarathri (Sun Nxt):

This 2019 Malayalam movie is directed by cinematographer turned director Jibu Jacob who had directed movies like Vellimoonga and Munthirivallikal Thallirkumbol, and stars Biju Menon, Anaswara Rajan, Sarjano Khalid and Aju Varghese in key roles, and revolves around the protagonist who decides to help his ex girlfriend's daughter married, but faces a surprise when he finds that she has a lover.

Artemis Fowl (Disney Hotstar):

Based on Irish author Eoin Colfer's novel of the same name, this movie is the first of the movies from Disney stable to have an OTT premiere skipping theatrical release. Directed by Thor fame Kenneth Branagh, Artemis Fowl revolves around a 12-year-old genius who's a descendant of notorious criminal masterminds, who is forced to enter against a group of powerful underground fairies who are suspected to be behind the disappearance of his father. Starring Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Colin Farrell, and Judi Dench, Artemis Fowl has released on Disney Hotstar today.
