In recent times one of the biggest conflicts in the film industry happens to be the war between theatres and producers over the release of movies directly on OTT platforms skipping theatres, as few movies have announced OTT premieres.
After the announcement of OTT premiere of Jyothika's Ponmagal Vandhaal on May 29 and Keerthy Suresh's Penguin on June 19 on Amazon prime, theatre owners have been expressing their opposition against this, and many producers have supported OTT releases. Now, producer SR Prabhu has expressed his thought on the issue via Twitter.
SR Prabhu has tweeted "OTT & Theatrical r different avenues. If at all someone to worry, it’s the non theatrical segment. Also film producers r the only source of content providers for theatres & these 2 are bound for life. So let’s try to survive this pandemic to start over instead of statement wars!".
