In last few years, OTT platforms have managed to rival cinema in terms of reach and popularity. This emergence of digital entertainment space has made people wonder whether it can potential replace the traditional cinema altogether. During a recent media event, actor Rajkummar Rao stated that OTT cannot replace cinema and both the mediums are going to coexist for now.
Speaking at India Today Conclave, Rajkummar Rao said, "I didn't think traditional cinema halls will ever go away because of OTT platforms. Cinema lives in our blood. The same debate happened when TV came too. But we know what happened. Watching movies is a ritual in India. So OTT and cinema halls will co-exist, they will push each other ahead, complement each other and force each other to make better content."
He further added, "I watch a lot of content on OTT too. I watched a great series, Dopesick, on Hotstar. I recently finished Stranger Things. It's very entertaining."
