Legendary actress Cloris Leachman, who earned an Academy Award for her portrayal of a lonely housewife in 'The Last Picture Show' has passed away at the age of 94.

Leachman's publicist Monique Moss reportedly informed in a statement that the actress died in her sleep from natural causes at her home in Encinitas, California. Her daughter Dinah Englund was at her side, Moss added. Popularly known for her comic roles, Leachman is also the recipient of eight Emmy awards for her work on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Leachman's manager, Juliet Green, mentioned in a statement, "It's been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time. There was no one like Cloris. With a single look she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh till the tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her unparalleled magic."

Mel Brooks, who directed three of Leachman's movies, condoled her demise. "Such sad news—Cloris was insanely talented. She could make you laugh or cry at the drop of a hat. Always such a pleasure to have on set. Every time I hear a horse whinny I will forever think of Cloris’ unforgettable Frau Blücher. She is irreplaceable, and will be greatly missed," he tweeted. Cloris Leachman has also won a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Daytime Emmy Award.
