54-year-old American actor Cuba Gooding, who won the Academy Award for his role in Cameron Crowe's dramatic sports comedy Jerry Maguire, pleaded guilty to one count of forcibly touching a woman at a New York City rooftop bar back in 2018.
Cuba Gooding has admitted to the crime three years after being arrested and accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. In his guilt plea, the actor acknowledged that he “kissed the waitress on her lips” inside the LAVO New York restaurant and nightclub without her consent. As per the Manhattan district attorney’s office, Gooding, under terms of the plea, must continue for six more months in alcohol and behavior modification treatment that he has been undergoing since 2019, and must have no new arrests.
Pleading guilty to only one of the three allegations against him, Gooding said, “I apologize for making anybody ever feel inappropriately touched. I am a celebrity figure. I come into contact with people. I never want them to feel slighted or uncomfortable in any way.” Some of Gooding’s most recent major roles include O.J. Simpson in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. and American Horror Story: Roanoke, both of which released in 2016.
