Oscar For Omkara?

  • IndiaGlitz, [Saturday,September 09 2006]

There are contrasting views about the fate of ‘Omkara’s’ Box Office verdict. While some call it a success, there are others who’ve labeled it as a flop. The critics have loved it and the overseas market saw a good response (Even the foreigners can’t stop raving about it, especially Saif’s performance). Producer Ajay Devgan who played the role of the protagonist along with director Vishal Bharadwaj had voiced their opinion as to how a certain lobby had tried sabotaging the prospects of the film by spreading ‘false information’ about the film.

Ajay Devgan is not bothered about the contrasting view points on his film as he is shooting full throttle for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ‘Hall Bol’ where he plays a film actor who gets embroiled in real life activism (It’s being said that the film is based on Aamir Khan’s tryst with Narmada controversy). Devgan has gone a step further and is now saying that ‘Omkara’ truly deserves an Oscar nomination. But in his straightforward manner he also feels that ‘Rang De Basanti’ also deserves to win an Oscar nomination. It seems the race for Oscar this time around will be a very interesting one.
