Veteran actor Christopher Plummer, best known for his role as Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music has passed away at 91. The actor passed away at his residence in Connecticut after suffering a fall.
As said by his longtime friend and manager Lou Pitt, Christopher Plummer had died peacefully with his wife Elaine Taylor by his side. Plummer started his career on stage, with Broadway debut in 1954 and film debut with Sidney Lumet's Stage Struck in 1958.
Christopher Plummer's performance as Captain Georg von Trapp in the musical The Sound of Music opposite Julie Andrews turned out be a huge breakthrough in his career. After many supporting roles he revived his career with the 1999 film The Insider and won his first Oscar (for supporting performance) for his act in the 2011 movie Beginners.
