Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix, who is known for his unique choice of roles and recently won the Best Actor Oscar award for his performance in Todd Phillips' Joker, has put forth a very important message in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.
The actor has called requested New York governor Andrew Cuomo to release prison inmates due to the spread of the Covid-19 infection. The 45-year-old released a video tweeted by the Release Aging People in Prison Campaign.
Joaquin Phoenix has requested clemency to New Yorkers in prison and has said that the lives of so many people depend on his action. Further he has added that no one deserves to die in prison from COVID-19. Speaking in the video, Joaquin says, "When you're incarcerated there's no such thing as social distancing and ensuring good hygiene isn't an option", and requested leaders to protect prisoners and persons working in prisons.
