Cillian Murphy has made history by becoming the first Irish-born winner of the Best Actor award but losing to major opposition yet again, "Oppenheimer.â.
"Inception" was also a big winner in the major categories, including Best Picture and Best Director, with the only exception in the Best Supporting Actor category, where it went to Robert Downey Jr.
Cillian Murphy was the highest accolade winner with the Best Leading Actor award for his amazing performance as theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. Clearly astonished by this win, Murphy commented, "It's extraordinary.. As proud an Irishman as there has ever been." He went ahead to thank director Nolan and producer Emma Thomas for the incredible journey.
He rather emotionally submitted the explanation for the documentary: "honoring the peacemakers everywhere." The remark announced the film's analysis of Oppenheimer's lasting, truly world-changing legacy.
Other winners included Oppenheimer, which was a dynamite hit with seven victories; Poor Things; and The Zone of Interest.
Robert Downey Jr. received praise as the Best Supporting Actor for his performance alongside Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer. In a rather candid speech, he humorously thanked his difficult past and his wife for standing by him. The successful actor, most popularly recognized for his performance in Iron Man, shared his long Hollywood career journey with many personal ups and downs and successes.
Christopher Nolan is just grateful for an industry that kept him going back in history as the best director.
Though Al Pacino's slightly disoriented presentation delayed proceedings, Oppenheimer did at last secure the much-touted âBest Pictureâ award.
Producer Emma Thomas described the victory as the culmination of an improbable path.
Incidentally, it's worth mentioning that 'Anomalisa' might not just take some of the technical trophiesâlike editing, score, and cinematographyâbut it's not going to win one of those three.
The highly talented Eilish received nominations in seven categories, including her participation in film scores. The Oscars also paid homage to outstanding performances in other categories, including Best Original Song for Billie Eilish.
âThe Holdovers' Da'Vine Joy Randolph won best supporting actress, and The Zone of Interest won best international feature, marking the first British win in the category. Director Jonathan Glazer used his acceptance speech to criticize ongoing conflicts and express solidarity with Ukraine. It also won in the best original screenplay and best adapted screenplay categories, respectively, with "Anatomy of a Fall" and "American Fiction.
The next Grand Prix-winning movie in the Best Animated Feature movie category has added another touch of diversity to the list of movies this year: a Japanese fantasy movie, "The Boy and the Heronâ.
