Oruvan
After acting out brilliantly the character of Payas in Classmates which captured the hearts of critics and the common man in equal ease, Indrajith is here to dominate the screen with the lead character in Oruvan. In this film, set on a novel background Indran appear as Shivani.
Shivani, a man with a fire face came to that village under mysterious circumstances. Nobody knows where he came from and why. Though he rarely smiled, there always was calmness on his face. And as times went by, the people in the village gradually made him a part of them. Bharathan, who conducted fireworks for various temple festivals of the area had a liking for Shivani and took him as his helper in the making of fireworks and crackers. Shivani proved him extremely useful with his activity and sincerity and very soon become the first henchman of the crew. But deep inside him something burned, as Shivani was in his lookout for someone.
Bharathan dies in an accidental explosion at the firecracker unit and the responsibility of looking after his wife and three daughters falls on Shivani. Velu, who was an associate of Bharathan, has a daughter Devoo, who gets attracted to Shivani. Velu finds it a suitable match and decides to go on in making a relationship with Shivani. But the prospects of a marriage bring to light the reality of Shivani.
Oruvan, the debut directorial venture of Vinu Anand, for the first time in Malayalam film history opens a story in the backdrop of the lives of people engaged in the production of firecrackers. These people who add color and spectacle to feasts and festivals, are also the men who frequently loss themselves in the splendor. Oruvan also tells the colorful lives, intense competition and rivalry among firecracker workers.
The film has Indrajith doing the lead role of Shivani while Lal plays the role of Bharathan. Shamna appears in the role of Devoo while Meera Vasudev finds another better role in the female lead. The other member of the acting squad includes Prithviraj who appears in a cameo as an inspector, Rajan P Dev, Salimkumar, Anand, Sreeraman, Maala, Subair, Geethasalam and Leelahari.
The script is by Reggie Nair, while Jiboo Jacob wields the camera. The film will have a few good songs by Vayalar Sarathchandravarma set to music by Ouseppachan. The film is being shot near Wadakkancherry and Malampuzha under the Varma Film Corporation banner and will be released by Emil & Eric Release.
