Oru Kalloriyin Kadhai

The new pin-up boy of Kollywood Arya, high after the success in Arindhum Ariyamalum and Ullam Ketkumae, had set the expectations high for Oru Kalluriyin Kadhai.

And he seems to have not let the expectations go waste as he comes up with an understanding performance and delivering his best possible on the screen.

The director Nandha Periyasamy deserves special mention for trying his hand at a difficult theme considering this to be his maiden venture. And as is the case with many recent movies, this also deals with the turmoils of mind.

The movie is all about Arya a college student undergoing a stress disorder and how all his friends bail him out of trouble. Yuvan Shankar's melodious numbers and  a good show by Sonia Agarwal add strength to the film.

On the flip side, the movie especially towards the second half seems to go slow. The movie begins with a group of friends gathered in front of a college where they last met five years ago for a farewell.

At that moment, they resolve to meet after five years. All wait for the arrival of their leader Satya (Arya), a cheerful boy in their gang.

Unfortunately he turns up in an ambulance helped by his father. Shattered to see their friend in such a state, they are informed that Satya had suffered depression and affected with stress disorder since their farewell day.

With the efforts of a doctor (Charuhassan) the reason for his bad plight comes to light. Satya was in love with a girl Jyoti (Sonia Agarwal) who studies in the same college.

Satya follows her everywhere but does not have the guts to confess his love. Even on the farewell day, he keeps his love to her close to his heart. Then after, he gets affected by mental disorder.

Following doctor's advice to re-create the whole farewell day to cure Satya, his friends arrange for a similar get-together after getting permission from the college authorities.

They invite Jyothi too. She also turns up at the college where Satya is brought. The rest is all about how Satya recovers and does his confess his love to her.

Arya steals the show with a good performance and giving him ble company is Sonia. This is not a run of the mill college caper story. There is a touch of reality in many things.

Yuvan's music has the necessary zing to carry the youths. All in all, a good attempt by Nandha Periyasamy which deserves a watch.
