Tamil Nadu deputy chief-minister O. Panneerselvam conducted a surprise inspection at the sprawling Koyambedu Market yesterday. He assured that the market place would be renovated and basic amenities for traders/people would soon be made.
Koyambedu Vetetable, Fruit and Flower Market is adjacent to the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), the largest bus terminus in Asia which is the pride of the locals in Koyambedu. People flock to these markets in large numbers to purchase vegetables, fruits, flowers, dry-fruits, etc.
Koyambedu Market is always known for its cheap price when compared to the sale of the same items in other parts of the city. O. Panneerselvam paid an unscheduled visit to the Market, spoke to the traders and the people visiting the Market and inquired about the problems they face. He also welcomed suggestions from traders and the people to improve the quality of the market.
Speaking to newsmen, OPS later said that basic amenities for traders/people would be enhanced in the market.
