A woman from Ooty strangled her daughter to death after the 10-year-old witnessed her mother in bed with another man.

Rajalakshmi, who separated from her husband a few years ago owing to a longstanding feud, brought her daughter Usha Rani to a government hospital in the area she resided in, claiming that her kid had fallen unconscious due to an illness. The doctors, who declared Usha Rani dead on arrival, reported to the police regarding the death after they grew suspicious of the marks left from the strangulation on her neck. The police, after interrogating Rajalakshmi briefly, found that she had killed her daughter after the 10-year-old caught her indulging in an illicit affair with a man.

The police have arrested Rajalakshmi and remanded her in judicial custody. Further investigation of the matter is in progress.
