Only Electric Vehicles in India from 2030? NITI Aayog Latest Recommendation

As the problem of pollution continues to threaten us every day, NITI Aayog has proposed the latest initiative which will help reduce the issue. The government’s policy think tank has suggested that from the year 2030 onwards petrol and diesel-powered vehicles will be replaced by electric ones. In other words, their aim is to only sell electric automobiles 11 years later. NITI Aayog has moved a cabinet note that aims to develop the tasks and decide the various ministries to which the responsibilities will be delegated.

It proposed that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) should arrive at strategies to stop the use of the vehicles dependent on petrol and diesel. In addition, it also recommended a pilot e-highways initiative which will allow trucks and buses on certain national highways to run as electric vehicles via an overhead electric network.

There's still a lot of years left for 2030 and in the meantime, we should also contribute to the environment in the ways we can by using public transport, walking or cycling short distances, and carpooling. While buying vehicles, in addition to considering all the other features we can also look into the aspect of how environment-friendly a car or a bike is.
