High Court bans Diwali crackers sale

In a sensational ruling the Madras High Court has banned the online sale of Diwali crackers. Sheik Abdullah a businessman in Chennai filed a petition in the court seeking the ban on sale of Diwali crackers online as it would affect the livelihood of thousands of workers and families who depend on it. The petitioner had also pointed out that low quality crackers from China would flood the market if online sale is allowed.

The Madras High Court has posted the next hearing in the case on November 15th and since Diwali falls on November 8th there it is highly unlikely that the digital sales could commence during this festive season.
