Sadha Interview

In a freewheeling chat with indiaglitz, Sadha talks about her over-a-decade journey in showbiz, small screen stint and Kollywood comeback.

You`ve been for over 10 years in showbiz… how did it change you as a person?

The best thing is that it hasn`t changed me as a person which I think is better. Even if I don`t get work, I`m still happy with the way things go. So not changing as a person while being in the industry is difficult bit I think I`ve managed to do that.

How was the journey while working in multiple industries?

I don`t come from a filmi background, so when I stepped into the showbiz my only focus was on work and make a mark for myself. Money and glamor that are part of the industry never attracted me. I love to dance and I was a good dancer from my childhood and acting took over from there. The only difference I found when working in other industries was language, barring that, I could not find any other variation and it`s been a wonderful journey so far and hoping that it continues… (smiles).

You took a 3 years break from Kollywood ? Is that a conscious attempt ?

Actors probably think a lot before taking up a project but I always try and pick up the scripts (amongst the ones that come my way) I enjoy the most. I do think a lot when the director and production house is new because I`m skeptical whether they make the film and release it in time. But when Eli` (Tamil film) came my way, I went for it because the production house was strong; they had a proper plan over the release, and I was also very impressed with the director.

The second thing that excited me to take up the project was the film is set in 1960`s backdrop. It`s rare that you get a role like that in these days. And of-course, the film has two songs shot on me – one was a cabaret dance and the other one was a rehash of the cult song – Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu - So shooting for such a song was like an icing on the cake.

How fascinating it is working in small screen ?

Honestly, DJ (Dhee Juniors) has been the best experience of my life so far. I will not rate this with anything else. I was skeptical initially getting into small screen because people relate you to TV but I`m so glad and happy that I took this up. The entire atmosphere on the sets gives me so much happiness and I go back smiling and I await the next schedule so desperately. This is something that has not happened to me for any of my films so far and I`m quite enjoying the stint.

Any regrets on missing out on your college life

I scored 92% in my 12th standard and I got an admission in an Engineering college in IT branch and that too on merit. And when director Teja offered me a film in Telugu (Jayam) I decided that showbiz is where I want to get into and since then I did not look back. But I`m happy with whatever I had and no regrets.

Are you seeing anybody ?

Unfortunately I don`t have anything interesting to offer on that particular side, but when things come up, I would be glad to announce something. I`m telling people around me if there`s anyone good, please introduce` (smiles).

How do you chill out during leisure ?

I hardly chill out. When I`m at home I do a lot for animals. I keep rescuing kitten, puppies, and pigeons in distress and bring them home and treat them. I`m not the kind of person to hang out at pubs and nightlife because I find it a waste of time. I can`t do things that will not give me any satisfaction.

Who are your friends in the industry?

I don`t think I have any friends in the industry. I hardly catch up with anybody. Once I`m done with the film I don`t stay in touch with any of the crew, so that`s how I am. I have a very few friends but they are not from the industry.
