Two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, who is currently on extended judicial custody at the Tihar jail in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl case, has demanded a TV from the jail administration to keep himself entertained and updated on the world of wresting.
A senior jail official reportedly said that Sushil Kumar had made the request to the administration through his advocate. "He has requested for a television set so that he would get updates about wrestling matches," the official was quoted as saying. The judicial custody of the wrestler has been extended by a Delhi court till July 9. Sushil Kumar was arrested in late May over his involvement in the murder of a fellow wrestler, identified as 23-year-old Sagar Rana, in Delhi. The police managed to nab Sushil Kumar after he was absconding for nearly 20 days.
Speaking about the probable motive behind the murder, the police had earlier said that a video of the incident was recorded to terrorise the wrestling circuit in the city. "Sushil had asked (his friend) Prince to make that video. He and his associates thrashed the victims like animals. He wanted to establish his fear in the wrestling community," the police official had reportedly informed the court then.
