Abdul Khaja (30) was just another autorickshaw driver till Wednesday evening. After around 7:15 pm, he became a murder-accused after brutally stabbing Shakir Qureshi (35), a mutton shop owner, to death. This happened in full public view near Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad.
Both the victim and the perpetrator are residents of Chanchalguda. A heated argument over a pending rental payment led to the ghastly murder.
Khaja is understood to have gone out of control after a heated exchange with the victim only because he was drunk. He lost his mental control and did the unthinkable.
A constable named Najeebuddin was guarding the area when he spotted that the two were engaged in a brawl. He tried to stop broker peace between them and meanwhile called up a nearby police station.
But things went out of control and Khaja repeatedly stabbed a knife into the victim's neck. The accused has claimed before the media that he took the extreme step when Quereshi insulted his family.
The entire incident was caught on a video. It has gone viral.
