Ola Cabs has been banned by the Karnataka government, after the popular cab service had run motorcycle taxis, which was a violation of government rules. As per the reports from the government, there is a rule which prohibits deploying motorcycle taxis, and though numerous warnings were issued, ola was misusing its license.

Though Ola had been slapped a ban of 6 months it has been said that users are still able to book cabs and auto rickshaws on the app. The company had license to operate from June 2016 to June 2021, and had responded that while other cab services are still illegally operating motorcycle taxis, they had stopped using them after initial warnings itself.

While Ola has received a ban, another service Rapido is still operating motorcycle taxis in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and there's no clue on the kind of license used by them. It must be noted that earlier Ola had invested $100 million in scooter brand Vogo for the scooter service in Karnataka and Hyderabad.
