Okkadunnadu
Let's understand this straight. Chandrasekhar Yeleti is a commercial director who is not a commercial director. Sounds confusing? The pint is that this director has shown that it is possible good value-for-money entertainers without being mindless trashy or impossibly aggressive.
His previous movies like Aithe and Anukokunda Oka Roju are indeed strong examples of his solid work. Chandrasekhar is good without being pretentious about anything. This is something you cannot say for most others.
Gopichand is also a commercial actor. But, then again, this mass hero always makes it a point to beyond the obvious and look for ideas and inspirations. His movies like Ranam and Yagnam were not only fast-moving but also had some inherent value and virtue.
So when Gopichand and Chandrasekhar have come together for Okkadunnadu, the feeling is one of happiness. You almost feel that there is an assurance for quality entertainment
Okkadaunnadu is produced by Cherry at Chiranjeevi @ Cherry. The director says that the film which is set in Mumbai has a strong Mumbai feel.
The Mumbai backdrop will give the movie a realistic sheen and will ensure easy acceptability. The director who likes to keep his story and script a secret, doesn't want to talk too much on it.
`You will see a new kind of Gopichand,' he says helpfully.
He has new looks (designer suits and all) and exudes a cool chic feel. He is said to be playing a rich NRI banker. Gopichand himself is pretty chuffed at having acted under a professional like Chandrasekhar Yeleti.
Gopi feels that his character has been shaped up in such a manner that it would appeal to all. `We have carefully worked on it and given all the right thrusts,' he adds.
The heroine is a Mumbai import. Neha Jhulka. Though her acting talents are slightly untested, she looks confident and composed.
Further, Chandrasekhar has always given his heroines strong characters. Sindhu Tolani (Aithe) and Charmmee (Anukokunda Roju) will bear this out. So on that count, Neha seems to be on a strong wicket.
Another strong feature in Chandraselhar Yeleti's films are the songs and re-recording. This movie is going to be no different. All the 10 songs that M M Keervani has strummed in are amazing.
One of the surprise factors in the film could be the presence of Mahesh Manjrekar, the maverick Hindi film director. He is said to be playing the arch villain. It promises some interesting interludes on screen.
Action, music, humour and some sentiments have all been cooked to a nicety in the movie. And then there is also a surprising twist in the script.
All in all, stay tuned for quality entertainment.
