Director Selvaraghavan's last released movie was NGK, which had Suriya playing the title role and also had Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. After the release of the political entertainer, there had been various rumours on the next movie of Selvaraghavan.

It was already said that Selvaraghavan's next will have his brother Dhanush playing the lead, and putting an end to all speculations, the director himself has made an official announcement regarding his next movie in a college cultural event held recently. 

Selvaraghavan has revealed that his next with Dhanush is Pudhupettai 2. This movie is the sequel to the director's 2006 movie which was about the rise of a gangster named Kokki Kumar, and also starred Sneha, Sonia Agarwal, Azhagam Perumal and had music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
