Off-beat 'Sye' on top

The rather alien game of rugby is the theme for the Telugu film "Sye" that is making waves all over Andhra Pradesh.
1. "Sye": Director Rajamouli's film with an unusual theme is doing very well and drawing the youth in droves. With this hit, trendy-looking Nitin and Genelia join the most coveted pairs club. Nitin has regained his ground after flop film "Sri Anjaneyam". Keeravani's foot-tapping score has brought in repeat audiences.
2. "Arjun": The makers of "Okkadu" have recreated their magic with this action film. The film has completed 50 days in 120 centres. But it is slowly losing its appeal in many places. Mahesh, however, has regained his stardom after reeling under the fiasco of "Naani". Gunasekar has proved again that he can deliver hits with big stars.
3."Gudumba Sankar"': Good publicity has helped the film to do well in remote centres though Pavan's poor screenplay and characterization have put off the audience. After damp squibs like "Johnny" and "Gudumba", industry circles are hoping he will come up with something exciting next time.
4. "Gouri": With this film, Sumanth has proved that he can slip with ease into an action role. Thespian A. Nageswara Rao has described the performance of his grandson as "towering", and the audience seems to agree. For producer Ravi Kishore the success of the film has proved it was a risk worth taking.
5."Shatruvu": Despite all the hype, Naveen's comeback film has failed to sustain audience interest after a good opening. Director Arun Prasad has proved unsuccessful in his attempt to make an engrossing film out of a good plot. His reliance on skin display and a comedy track has proved misplaced.
