Of The People
They were the group who ignited the colors of youthful resistance. Sebastian, Shafeeq, Balu, Iyer - A group which consisted of four college students, who made up their mind to eradicate social discrimination and wide spread bureaucratic dysfunctions.
Within days of their arrival, the viewers all over Kerala took to them and their ideals, which gained the unprecedented initials to the first part of 'Four The People'. The film in the scripts of Iqbal Kuttipuram also showcased how community conditions and social settings shape the contours of political behavior, and how factors such as poverty, and violence influence political ideas. The music and songs by Jassie Gift and the dance sequences by Bharath also were the highlights of this movie, which became one of the biggest grossers of the year.
After a couple of years Jayaraj made a sequel to this film in 'By The People' which met with limited success in the box office. Now after three years of waiting, Jayaraj is again back with the third part of four the people in 'Of The People'.
This new film opens again with the same group, finally arriving back from a long time in oblivion. The threesome, who succumbed to the iron hand of law makers, after making a notable fight against large spread corruption, is finally getting out from jails. They decides to continue with their studies and join another campus where they finds that, the present day youth still holds the fire within themselves to react against the atrocities committed to the mass society. But now, they can't act openly as they are always in the hit list of the police.
Nevertheless, they continue to fight with their newly found young lieutenants. They amass weapons, and provide values and vision to the encounters of the youth. They always realized that they will be traced out by the anti socials, but their biggest support was from the large section of the ordinary people, who were always with them. `Of The People is essentially a film in the thriller genre, which amalgamates all the essentials for another hit stuff.
This experimental venture is produced by Jayaraj in his own banner. Arjun, Padmakumar and Arun, the lead players of for the people, are also here to play the three young warriors.
The film introduces a group of young artists including the heroine Devipriya, former Mr India Harshan and Govind Sudheer. Sabitha Jayaraj, the award winning costume designer and the wife of Jayaraj, also appears in an important role in the film.
Debutante scriptwriter Sreekumar Shreyas pens the scripts for this film which is shot by Thanu Balak, - a young cinematographer-director of many advertisement and albums.
The film which was extensively shot with super sixteen cameras and Jimmy Jib cranes is edited in Digital intermediate technology. Majority of the flick was shot in Munnar, Chennai and Alappuzha. The film also introduces another new music director Vinu Thomas, whose trendy songs with a folkish touch are already big hits in the campuses.
Jayaraj himself have penned lyrics for a song in the film while cinematographer Thanu is crooning for a song 'undhundhu' which is a chart buster.
Jayaraj is planning to release the film by the first week end of 2008.
