The OceanGate Expeditions stole the limelight after Guillermo Söhnlein's company stole a worst-case scenario involving their Titan submersible. Söhnlein, who has faced scrutiny and criticism alike, isn't interested in backing down — he said that he plans to send 1,000 humans to live in Venus' atmosphere by 2050.

While Venus presents incredible challenges, Söhnlein said that pushing innovation boundaries can't be stopped; his humans2venus venture studio seeks to chip away commercial roadblocks for this ambitious endeavour.

The spectacle of exploring Venus could sound disconnected from the submersible tragedy. But it stings with OceanGate's pursuit of affordable crewed submersibles. Söhnlein's passion for exploration comes back to his childhood dreams of commanding the first Martian colony.

He takes calculated risks despite setbacks and believes firmly that humanity has tremendous potential for groundbreaking achievements, no matter how daunting the challenges are.

Finally, Söhnlein’s pursuit of exploration reflects his lifelong interest in uncharted territories. Whereas the Titanic tragedy reminds one about risks, it hasn't dulled my friend's optimism regarding humanity’s capability to conquer challenges and find new horizons.
