A court in Chennai has issued notice to actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth following a case filed against him by a distributor from Srivilliputhur alleging that he had gone back on his promise to recoup losses from his film, Narasimha.

According to the distributor Mariammal, Vijayakanth and his brother-in-law Sudheesh, had agreed to confer the rights to Narasimha on payment of Rs 50 lakhs. They had also agreed to compensate the losses. The film collected only Rs 24 lakh and she incurred a loss of Rs 26 lakh.

For the last couple of years, her losses had not been compensated.

Admitting the petition, Judge has sent notices to Vijayakanth and Sudheesh to be present at the next hearing. The matter has been posted for next hearing on 28 July.
