Mejo Joseph is the new musician who is making a mark with the latest 'Note Book'. He combines with the super hit lyricist of the year Vayalar Sharath to make an album which is a laudable effort, as far as new comer is concerned. Often making us remember of the Deepak Dev type orchestration, he has composed a few tunes which are hummable and are already in the charts. The songs which are youth-oriented, instilled with vigor have combined styles of pop, hip-hop and soft rock with eastern styles of music.
1 Hridayavum - The five-track album starts with Hridayavum hridayavum, a romantic number with trendy beats and melodious tune, sung in sizzling fashion by Vineth Sreenivasan and Jyotsna. The former who is the biggest hit singer of the 2006, gets another chance to prove his mettle, and sings with fervor that is repeated on the reverse side of the album.
Vayalar Sharath's lyrics are extremely smooth and appealing, meant to please the youth. Jyotsna's honey-coated voice blends nicely with Vineeth Sreenivasan's resounding voice
2 As we all know - This is an English song sung by Donan, Ramya, Swapna and Venaita. The song is repeated in a faster version in the tender voice of Rhea which is more thrilling experience. The beats are fast and will find favor with youngsters on the dance floor.
3 Iniyum maunamo - This is the pick of the album showing the real caliber of the young musician. A touching soft melody, suffused with passion rendered in deep dulcet voice of music maestro K J Yesudas and Manjari.
The excellent rendering and the alluring strains of the instruments transport you to a spiritual realm. There is poetic feel of emotions all through the song. The song is repeated in the voices of Sudeepkumar who also has effectively rendered it closer to the mood projected by the master singer.
4 Changaathy koottam--. Fusion of Indian and western orchestration, forceful rhythm and lively rendition by a melange of voices including Afsal, Vidhuprathap and Rimitomy make it stand out. But the number bears a strong resemblance to some Rahmanish percussions of earlier songs.
5 Mazhayaude cherumany-- It is the final track of the album. Another racy number again by Afsal, Rimitomy, Vidhu and co it has enough zing to prompt you to shake a leg. Rigorous instrumentation and stunning rendition by the lead singers also give it an upbeat mood.
The variety and effective orchestration proves that Mejo, the music director is here to stay. The young musician who also played a role of a meek music loving student in the film will definitely prove big if adequate openings help him to do . Anyway, at least a few songs are a must hear if you love quality music.
