This year-end saw the release of some of the movies like Palunku and Note Book which were the most awaited releases of the last year. But the initial reports made it clear that it was Baba Kalyani - the action movie starring Mohanlal which was the winner.

Note Book and Palunku which started rather slowly in the first week were not expected to make it big with the level of Baba Kalyani's success. But now the race is steady with both these films picking up in the later weeks.

Note Book, well marketed by Grihalekshmi Productions, is entering its fifth week in almost all release stations this week. Palunku was mostly benefited with the word of mouth publicity that it got in the initial weeks. The film is also projected as the potential award winner in all categories this year ranging from best actor to best child artistes.
