We all know and believe that it is Delhi which has the highest crime rate against women. But surprisingly, it is Assam which has topped the chart for rate of crime against women in the country for the third consecutive year, as per the 2019 National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figures.

Assam is that state about which we hear any news very rarely. But a total of 1952 cases of rape were reported in Assam in 2019, out of which 88 were on minor girls below the age of 18 years.

When calculated, on average; almost five women/girls were raped each day of the year. This news has gone viral for all the reasons and safety of women in Assam has become an priority now.
