North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s daughter made her first ever appearance in public at a missile launch site with her father, who had observed the launch of North Korea’s new type of intercontinental ballistic missile.
Pictures from the event released by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) showed Kim Jong-un and his daughter, who is believed to be named Kim Chu-ae, walking hand in hand during the test. “Kim Jong-un solemnly declared that if the enemies continue to pose threats to the DPRK, frequently introducing nuclear strike means, our Party and government will resolutely react to nukes with nuclear weapons and to total confrontation with all-out confrontation,” KCNA reportedly said.
Speaking about the little girl’s life, Michael Madden, a non-resident fellow at the Stinson Center and an expert on North Korea, said the 9-year-old gets plenty of attention, love and care from her parents. “She and her siblings have a full complement of nannies and housekeepers but they also hang out with their parents a lot. Kim Jong-un’s dad was a hard guy but was very attentive to his kids too. When you’re a dictator you get to choose how you spend your time,” he was quoted as saying.
