Unconfirmed reports and speculations regarding Kim Jong Un's health have been doing the rounds for over a week now, as the Supreme Leader of North Korea has apparently been missing in action since his last public appearance on April 11.
Amid the rumours, a picture purportedly showing Kim Jong Un lying in a coffin has gone viral on social media. The tampered picture shows Kim Jong Un facing upwards with his head laid back on a pillow, with his body concealed by a large red blanket. The doctored image reportedly resembles a photo taken of Kim Jong Un's father, Kim Jong Il, during his funeral in 2011 after he died of a heart attack. Hence, it has been declared fake by media. "The image has been attributed to both Japanese news network JNN and Hong Kong Satellite Television, although its actual origin is not clear," a report read.
Kim hasn't been seen publicly since April 11. He missed the April 15 commemoration of the 108th birthday of his grandfather, North Korea's founder, Kim Il Sung. His absence in the event sparked speculations of him being in a vegetative state or dead. The South Korean government, however, recently reported that Kim is "absolutely fine and had been staying in the Wonsan area on the North's eastern coastline."
