'Normalization' of drug abuse in 'Arjun Reddy' gets censure
Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
Increasingly, the drug abuse by the protagonist of 'Arjun Reddy' is coming in for condemnation from certain sections of society. Many are of the view that, just as it "romanticizes" the use of expletives (like 'M***od), the sensational hit seems to "normalize" the hero doing drugs.
Of course, the senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao is the major political voice leading the charge. He has demanded that the government should either ban the movie or do away with its anti-drug probes.
He has objected to the way Arjun Reddy, who is a doctor, performs surgeries under the influence of alcohol in the movie. "How did the Censor board permit the movie?" he asked.
