It has been a tense situation in parts of Delhi, especially Old Delhi and Central Delhi, since Sunday night. Hours after an argument broke out between members of two communities, a temple was allegedly vandalized by a mob. Police are trying their best to restore normalcy.
Early on Tuesday, Union Minister and Chandni Chowk MP Harsh Vardhan was in Hauz Qazi to review the situation. "It is very unfortunate and painful. The kind of thing done to the temple is unforgivable. I have been told that the police is already acting, the culprits will be arrested soon and punished. I appeal to the people to maintain harmony," the BJP MP said.
"Security in the area has been tightened," says a report.
BJP leader Baijayant Jay Panda, condemning the attack, said, "The attack on the Chandni Chowk temple is highly condemnable. Delhi police must book the attackers immediately. It is important not to provoke communal tensions, but censorship by media is not the way. Media must always inform, regardless of who the perpetrators and victims are."
