A man was arrested after he threw his 14-month-old daughter at his wife during a fight, leading the baby to fall down and die.

The accused (28) and his wife (23) hail from Bihar and have been residing in the JJ colony in Sector 22 of Noida. The man, who was works as a labourer, got into a verbal spat with his wife on July 23, according to the police. "On Thursday afternoon, the couple had a fight during which the man threw their daughter at his wife and she fell down on the floor. The child was taken to a local hospital and later referred to Delhi but she succumbed midway," an official reportedly said.

The deceased baby's mother registered a complaint at the local Sector 24 police station, following which an FIR was registered against the man under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused was arrested on Saturday and has been remanded in judicial custody while further investigation of the matter is underway.
