Pakistani Nobel laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai, alarmed by the rising tensions between the two countries and fearing the safety of people across both sides of the border, has called for a truce between India and Pakistan, as many other global leaders have.
With the caption #SayNoToWar, her Twitter post read, “I ask the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to show true leadership in this difficult time: to sit down, shake hands and settle the current conflict and long-standing issue of Kashmir through dialogue.” Further requesting the international community to support talks between India and Pakistan, Malala concluded her note by stating that the true enemies of the countries are terrorism, poverty, illiteracy and health crisis, and not each other.
Following the Pulwama terror attack on February 14 that claimed the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel, the IAF crossed the LoC and launched a 1000 kg bomb on the biggest Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Balakot on February 26.
