Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that Indian Muslims won't be affected by the Citizenship Amendment Act in any manner. Addressing a rally ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the senior BJP leader said that Muslims have nothing to fear.
"I want to tell my Muslim brothers - it is up to you to decide whether to vote for us or not but please do not doubt our intentions. No one can touch you, let alone taking away your citizenship," Singh said.
Hundreds of Muslims have been protesting at Delhi's Shaheen Bagh, demanding that CAA be rolled back. The protests are going to determine the outcome of the Delhi Assembly elections, observers are saying.
In his bid to woo the Sikh voters, Singh added, "We formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) again to probe the 1984 Sikh riots case. Those who are found guilty in the case would be punished."
