Chennai’s Marina is very famous not only as a popular tourist location but also as a protest spot. Especially when youngster gathered for the protest against the Jallikattu ban, it became historic. The protest had so much verve that the Chief Minister had to fly to the capital to revoke the ban on Jallikattu.

After the Jallikattu protests, there was a ban to conduct protests in Marina. However, following an appeal, later protests were allowed by the High Court. Again the state challenged the order seeking a ban on protests in Marina.

The verdict is out today, and the High Court has stated that protests will be prohibited in Marina. Moreover, the court also stressed the importance of organizing protests and also reiterated that the decision taken to ban protests in Marina to safeguard law and order was the right decision. Hence it could be understood no more protests will take place in Marina.
