No major releases this Friday as all eyes on 'Dhoom 3'

As it happens in case of all major biggies, the same phenomenon is being repeated before the arrival of 'Dhoom 3'. Since the Aditya Chopra production arrives in the weekend leading to Christmas, there is no major big budget film releasing a week earlier. This means Bollywood sees the coming together of 'Jackpot', 'What The Fish' and 'Lucky Kabootar' - all in one go, on the same Friday.

There won't be much scuffle for screen space though since none of the three releases is looking at a massive presence. 'Jackpot' would see the widest release and also the best collections amongst the three films. However that would be on a relative scale since the film, with Sunny Leone as the USP, would have to rely entirely on the word of mouth. The promotion for this Sachiin Joshi produced and acted film has been the widest and it would be interesting to see how this translates into footfalls. Though Sunny's last release 'Jism 2' had taken a fantastic opening, it would be a 'jackpot' for 'Jackpot' if it manages half of it.

'What The Fish' is primarily a multiplex film with Dimple Kapadia as the only notable face. There has been decent promotion around the film but niche subject as well as lack of buzz means one can't expect good audience base for it on the opening day. Other release of the week, 'Lucky Kabootar', has been delayed for a while and has seen patchy promotion around it. It is unfortunate since the film comes from the house of Late Raj Kanwar, who once made massive films for mass audience. Even 'Lucky Kabootar' would be primarily targeting mass centres, mainly through single screens, though there is no buzz or hype around it.
