There will be no noisy affair this Diwali as the Supreme Court has slammed a ban on the sale of firecrackers until November 1 in Delhi. The ban comes in the backdrop of the court’s desire to test the air quality after Diwali post ban.

However, those who have already bought crackers could still burst them during the festival of lights. The pollution in Delhi during Diwali was touted to be the worst in ten years. Based on a petition filed by three children in 2015, the court had decided to bring back the ban after a temporary suspension last month.

Eventhough the decision has garnered support from a wide spectrum of people, cracker manufactures have expressed disconcert over the ban stating that it affect livelihoods.
