There is a criticism in Kollywood that directors have been queuing behind heroes looking for hits.

However, Lingusamy says that he is different.

'Though my earlier films featured big stars like Mammooty, Madhavan and Ajith, I chose heroes only as per the demand of my script and screenplay. I don't run behind heroes'.

After working with three big heroes, Lingusamy is at work with a relatively new face 'Chellamae' Vishal.

On choosing Vishal for Sandai Kozhi, Lingusamy says, 'he was my automatic choice. He fits 100 per cent for my story. I never differentiate between an established star and a newcomer'.

Kollywood was full of rumors that Lingusamy would join the list of Cheran and S J Suryah's by becoming an actor himself.

A cool Lingusamy denies any plans as of now. People around me encouraged me to take up acting. However as of now my attention would be to direct quality movies.'

Playing to his strengths is Lingusamy.
