After a long delay, actor Nivin Pauly's much-awaited movie 'Thuramukham' has finally got a release date. The major announcement was made by the actor himself through his official Instagram handle. Sharing a new poster from the movie, the 'Premam' actor wrote, “All Labour that uplifts humanity has dignity. The post was soon flooded with comments from fans who were all waiting to hear the rescheduled release date of the most awaited Rajeev Ravi directorial.

Touted to be a political period thriller, Thuramukham marks the first collaboration of Nivin Pauly and the National award-winning cinematographer-director Rajeev Ravi. Apart from Nivin Pauly, the ambitious movie will also feature Indrajith Sukumaran, Sudev Nair, and Biju Menon in pivotal roles. Nimisha Sajayan, the Kerala State Film Award-winning actress appears as the female lead opposite Nivin Pauly in the movie. 'Thuramukham' is based on workers' struggle against the 'Chappa' system, which was widely practiced at the Mattancherry harbor in Kochi, in the 1940s and 50s. The movie's screenplay is by Gopan Chidambaram, son of KN Chidambaram.

The movie will mark the comeback of Rajeev Ravi after a gap of five years. His last movie as a director was the critically acclaimed super hit Kammatti Paadam (2016) starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. For Thuramukham, Rajeev Ravi has doubled up as the cinematographer. Produced by Sukumar Thekkepat under the banner Thekkepat Films, the movie had its world premiere at the prestigious International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). Previously, the film was slated to release in theatres in May 2022, but due to pandemic issues and other unknown reasons, ‘Thuramukham’s theatrical release was rescheduled to an indefinite time period.
