Nivin Pauly's much celebrated cop drama 'Action Hero Biju’, that released in 2016, is all set to get a sequel. The 2016 release directed by Abrid Shine had created ripples as the movie depicted the realistic life of Kerala police with a never experienced before narrative that is different from the usual cop tale. Nivin Pauly's production banner Pauly Junior Pictures announced the happy news through a press release regarding the release date of ‘Mahaveeryar’ which is also directed by Abrid Shine. The name of the sequel was included in the list of upcoming movies produced by Nivin Pauly's production house. The sequel has been tentatively titled Action Hero Biju 2.

The 2016 movie featured Nivin Pauly in the role of Sub-inspector Biju Paulose along with a huge cast list, including Anu Emmanuel, Saiju Kurup, Joju George, Kalabhavan Preman, Rohini, Rony David, Sohan Seenulal, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vindhuja Menon in pivotal roles. The movie had fetched Nivin Pauly a Filmfare award for best actor in Malayalam and was also praised for breaking away from the usual stereotype in depicting a police officer in Mollywood. Whether the upcoming film would be a continuation of the previous, and if the cast would be reprising the roles is currently unknown.

Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly-Abrid Shine combo's upcoming fantasy entertainer Mahaveeryar is slated to come in theatres on July 21. Based on a story by M Mukundan, the upcoming film also features Asif Ali, and Shanvi Srivatsav in lead roles, along with Nivin Pauly. As the film marks the reunion of Nivin Pauly with director Abrid Shine and actor Asif Ali, the movie has created a huge hype among netizens.
