Nithya Menen is currently headlining a sci-fi period drama titled 'Skylab', which she is also co-producing on her banner. Sharing its First Look on Instagram, the 'Janatha Garage' and 'Ala Modalaindi' actress said that she is glad to be working with one of the most talented and passionate teams ever.

The period film, set in 1979, features Satyadev Kancharana as a lead actor. "You will enjoy this one as much as we enjoyed making it! A Roller Coaster Ride of Fun & Emotions awaits you! (sic)," he wrote on Twitter, plugging the poster. Rahul Ramakrishna is the other lead man.

The film was announced in 2019 but the pandemic has inordinately delayed things. "They say it takes time to realize your dreams. But if one’s job is manufacturing dreams, it can take a little longer. So, I have no regrets," wrote director Vishvak Khanderao.

The film has music and cinematography, respectively, by Prashant R Vihari and Aditya Javvadi.

What is Skylab? "Skylab was the first United States space station, launched by NASA, occupied for about 24 weeks between May 1973 and February 1974," says Wikipedia. It was feared to fall from space and lead to catastrophe. The three lead characters in the film are located in those times.
