A death warrant was today issued to the rapists in the Nirbhaya case. They will be hanged to death on January 22, at 7 am.

Giving a brief history of what has happened since 2012, social media influencer Anshul Saxena says, "Finally, Nirbhaya rapists to be hanged to death. Akshay, Mukesh, Pawan and Vinay are the ones who will hang. Totally, six men were convicted. A juvenile was released after 3 years in a reform home. Ram Singh committed suicide in jail. Justice after 7 years."

Welcoming the warrant, Congress leader Sushmita Dev today said, "Nirbhaya has got justice. In an open and shut case like Nirbhaya's if it can take seven years, what happens in other cases where evidence is not clear? It calls for introspection on the part of the political class and the legal community."

Meanwhile, Nirbhaya convicts' lawyer, AP Singh, is planning to file a curative petition in the Supreme Court within a day or two. "Five senior-most judges of the SC will hear it. There has been a pressure from the media, public and political pressure in this case since the beginning. Unbiased probe could not take place in this case," he said.

One Pawan will be the hangman. "I am ready to hang the convicts. Nobody from the jail admin has yet contacted me. If I receive the order, I will definitely go. It will really give a great sigh of relief to me, to Nirbhaya's parents and to everyone".
