Nirav Modi’s Hong Kong godown throws up Rs 1,350 Cr worth jewels!

In a welcome development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday pulled out polished diamonds, silver jewellery and pearls worth Rs 1,350 Cr from a godown in Hong Kong. These belong to Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.

"ED brought back 108 consignments containing polished diamonds, pearls, pearl and silver jewelry etc worth Rs. 1350 Crores (approx) of various overseas entities of Nirav Modi & Mehul Choksi which were kept in the godown of a logistics company in Hong Kong," an official statement from ED said.

The consignment brought back to India reportedly weighs 2,340 kg. The whole consignment is currently in Mumbai.

In 2017, Nirav Modi fled the country before a Rs 23,780 Cr Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud came to light. Mehul Choksi, who is his relative, is in Antigua.
