Has Nipah virus spread to Tamil Nadu?

The deadly NIpah virus has claimed 14 lives in Kerala including a nurse and has caused great fear among the public in that state. No vaccination has been developed to combat the deadly virus as of now. It is said to spread through bats and animals like pigs and birds and mostly affects people who work in such farms or live close to such animals.

Doctors have assured that the Nipah virus has not spread into Tamil Nadu as of now and the rumours should not be beleived that the there are victims in TN as well. It has been adviced that fruits should be washed well before consumption and to better avoid those fruites that carry a mark of an animal bite. People who are going to Kerala for work and come back to Tamil Nadu are being closely monitored to check for the infection of Nipah.
