Founded in 2010, the CSAF Festival, presented by Zee Cinema, has become an annual South Asian event in the heartland of the US. It is organised by the Chicago South Asian Arts Council Inc, an NGO dedicated to enhancing diversity in Chicago through international cinema, conversation and culture.
'Nil Battey Sannata' tells a story of a domestic help named Chanda played by Swara, who enrolls to study in the same school as her 15-year-old daughter named Appu to set a good example. It found critical acclaim when it released.
