Indian American Nikki Haley has emerged as a prominent Republican presidential contender against President Joe Biden in the November 2024 elections, as per a CNN poll. The upcoming election will feature a dozen Republican leaders, including Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy. While former President Donald Trump currently leads the race by a significant margin among Republican candidates, recent CNN polls have shown a different perspective.
In hypothetical matchups, the polls indicate that there is no clear leader should Biden face one of the major GOP contenders, except for one notable exception: former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. According to CNN, Haley holds a lead over Biden with 49 percent to Biden's 43 percent in a hypothetical match between the two.
The CNN poll reveals a divided support among registered voters in the USA. The race between Trump and Biden remains competitive, with Trump at 47 percent and Biden at 46 percent. Similar competitive percentages are seen in matchups with Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie.
Notably, Nikki Haley enjoys broader support compared to other Republicans among white voters with college degrees, holding 51 percent of that group, while other tested Republicans have 48 percent or less, as per the poll.
The Haley campaign welcomed the poll results, emphasizing that both Democrats and Republicans are acknowledging their concern about facing Nikki Haley as a contender in the upcoming election. A senior Democratic strategist close to the Biden campaign expressed their worry about running against Nikki Haley, stating, "If they nominate Nikki Haley, we're in trouble."
