When 'Kirik Party' released last year in Karnakata, it turned out to be the second biggest hit in the history of Sandalwood. A coming-of-age campus saga telling the story of a group of friends studying in a residential college, the film was deemed ahead of its times by Kannada audience.

Such a film is now to be remade into Telugu. And Nikhil Siddharth, who did a campus film of a different temperament (read 'Happy Days') many years ago, will be the male lead. Anil Sunkara has got the remake rights.

After the release of 'Kesava' on May 12, Nikhil will let his hair down for a few weeks before joining the shoot of the remake in June. Chandoo Mondeti has been roped in to screenplay the movie, now that he has shown his mettle for adapting 'Premam'. This is his second teaming-up with Nikhil after 'Karthikeya'. However, the film's won't be directed by him.
